Use quilt patterns in new ways. A traditional quilt pattern takes on a new use as a wall tile pattern in this bathroom. Designer Suzan Fellman recommends choosing a grouting color that matches the colored tiles as she did with the grout between the red tiles here.
Dot with jewel‐toned brights. This exquisitely put together living room is a stellar example of how a space with a very dark base can be vibrant. With the color palette focused on strong shades of green turquoise and mustard in light‐catching materials this dark space is an atmospheric haven.
Mix pattern and softness. Furniture is a traditional way to add texture to a home. This gorgeous Ligne Roset sofa gives an instant sense of comfort and makes a great focal point with the fabric echoing the pattern of the brick wall in a softer way. You can't help but sit and get cozy.
Choose the right reclaimed wood. Reclaimed wood can come from a variety of sources – shipping pallets boats barns sheds mills commercial structures and even your home if you're remodeling. It's possible to score a pile of reclaimed wood for free if you know where to look and can do the legwork.
Green Sashes. Or try a dark green window sash. It's softer than black but still classic and neutral as it picks up the colors in nature. A magnificently tall ceiling like this one is beautiful but not required
Shelves. As the trend of open upper shelves continues to grow people are looking for new ways to apply them. One of my favorite ways is stretching shelves across windows.
Treat your feet. Luxurious underfoot artificial grass brings the joy of walking barefoot in the garden without the maintenance of a real lawn. It's perfect for creating a relaxing garden mood on a roof terrace or balcony where natural turf is impractical.
Work in some caramel leather. Interior designer Brandi Hagen had fun playing with her client's penchant for Western style in this sitting area off the master bedroom. A coffee table upholstered in warm‐colored durable caramel leather anchors a bedroom sitting area. Western prints a colorful horse painting and a graphic Thomas Paul thoroughbred pillow round out the accessories while a restrained color palette keeps things from turning too themey.
